Domino Server 6.0.2 Linux - RedHat

I am trying to install a new Domino Server on Red Hat 7.2 I can unpack the .tar file ok and I go through the install questions ok but when the installation is actually taking place it bombs with the following messege

/bin/tar: Skipping to next header
/bin/tar: Archive contains obsolescent base-64 headers
/bin/tar: Error exit delayed from previous headers

I am logged in as root and im trying to give a user named notes ownership of the files.
My question is this; is this a problem with Linux or a problem with Domino. Im not sure where to go for answers. I am a newbie to Linux and have manages so far with the excepetion of this error

Thanks.
